Phyllis Castro is a long-time Hawaii resident, and a Mother of two wonderful
children, Joshua and Tiare ("Tahitian Gardenia") shown here with husband Eric.
Phyllis has worked extensively in the Hawaii travel industry, and has
always had a keen interest in how well Hawaii's hotels and resorts accommodate
families and their children. Now, with the launch of Family Vacations
Hawaii, she has put her expertise "on-line" and she and her
staff will happily advise you and your loved ones on how to get the most
out of a family vacation in Hawaii.
Phyllis moved to Maui in 1977 from Florida where she was raised. She
was employed as the staff photographer of the Royal Lahaina Resort and
the Maui Surf Hotel, now the site of the Westin Maui. Recreationally,
she paddled canoe for the Napili and Lahaina Canoe Club on Maui, even
racing in Tahiti.
Phyllis attended the University of Hawaii and graduated with a business
degreee and became a public accountant with the international CPA firm,
Deloitte and Touche, travelling extensively within the islands. The
inter-island travel resulted in a broad knowledge of the islands and
of the hotels on each island. She eventually left public accounting
and went on to become the Finance Director for the third largest not-for-profit
in Hawaii. She is also an elected neighborhood board member in Oahu.
After 13 years in accounting and finance, Phyllis decided to leave
the world of finance after the birth of her first son, Joshua, and was
fortunate enough to take a year off. She decided to "go online"
in a big way with Family Vacations Hawaii, to help support her growing
family. Phyllis, husband Eric, and the kids, enjoy travelling around
the Hawaiian islands whenever they can.
Phyllis specializes in family packages and the Island of Maui, but
can help plan a family vacation on any of the Hawaiian Islands. She
knows what it's like to travel with little ones and is empathetic to
the needs of families travelling in Hawaii.
