Formerly known as the Kauai Coconut Beach, this lovely ocean front property has undergone extensive renovations since it was taken over by the Marriott hotel chain. And typical of all Marriott properties, it has been transformed into a beautiful hotel. Reminiscent of Hawaii's plantation era, the hotel is set on the secluded sands of Waipouli Beach, amidst a 10-acre coconut grove.
The rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated, featuring down/feather pillows and luxurious linens and furnishings. The bathrooms are large and beautifully designed and feature spray jets in the bathtub. There is cable/satellite TV with complimentary cable channels CNN, ESPN and HBO. A large lanai offers the perfect spot to watch the sunset or just to ponder on the beauty of Kauai.

The Aston Kauai Beach at Makaiwa has several dining spots, including Cook's Landing for lunch; Market, which is a kiosk featuring fast food items; the fabulous Tihati's Hiva Pasefica, traditional Hawaiian cuisine with one of the very best Polynesian shows in the state; and, Voyager Grille, a terrific classic steakhouse. There is an oceanfront swimming pool and whirlpool, tennis, jogging paths, on-site massage services that also include body scrubs and wraps as well as facial treatments. There are golf courses, hiking trails and horseback riding nearby as well as kayaking and a mountain bike trail.
The Aston Kauai Beach at Makaiwa is a fantastic hotel to stay in. Centrally located so you can take advantage of all the many wonderful things to see on Kauai, from the beaches to the mountains to the only navigable river in Hawaii, the hotel is the ideal place to come home to. The grounds are very spacious and the hotel is set amoung a grove of coconut trees. While the property is beach front it is not a beach in which one can go swimming which is typical of hotels on Kauai's East Coast. |
| Our Agent Ron Says ... The Aston Kauai Beach at Makaiwa has completed a full renovation. The rooms are beautiful and the grounds are nicely landscaped with foliage and grassy lawn areas. Although the bathrooms are quite small, they do have a shower and bath tub. The property is set back amoung a grove of coconut trees and is far enough away from the shops in Kapaa to allow for a sense of tranquility. It is still close enough to the shops, however, to be very convenient for those who want to dine off property as restaurants are close by. The beach is not good for swimming or other ocean activities, however Lydgate Park and Kapaa Beach is a short drive away. |
